Details Margaret Ann Campbell Trautman was born January 26, 1934, to William B. and Annette (Brockmyer) Campbell in Oakdale, PA. She attended Montours Presbyterian Church, where she met David Trautman, whom she later married. Margaret was valedictorian of her class from West Allegheny High School and received a full scholarship to attend Pennsylvania College for Women. She attended one year of college and then married Dave, the love of her life, on October 4, 1952. They had 4 children: Ken, Diane, Karen and Joy. When their youngest started school, Margaret returned to college at the University of Pittsburgh. She attained her B.A. in Education in 1972. She was a beloved teacher at West Allegheny (1973-1985.) Teaching for Margaret was a calling and a ministry. Her students experienced her care and respect for them, as well as her enthusiasm for learning. While teaching full-time, she earned her M.Ed. and a PhD. In 1985, they moved to New Wilmington, PA, where she became the Curriculum Coordinator for Wilmington Area Schools. Though no longer in the classroom, Dr. Trautman influenced and inspired many teachers. She lived out her core values of peace and justice in her work, church, family, and community. Throughout her life, Margaret served the church in many ways: singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, playing hand bells, mission trips to the Dominican Republic, as well as many other roles of leadership in her church and community. In 2009, she was named Educator of the Year. She read avidly, studied Spanish and completed crossword puzzles daily. Following Dave’s death and facing health challenges, Margaret decided to move to Uniontown, OH in 2019 to be near her daughter. She met many wonderful people and continued to live out her faith, caring for the caregivers and fellow residents of Gables of Green, encouraging and supporting everyone she encountered. Margaret was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, Dave, and her brother, Duane Campbell. She is survived by her sister, Norma Lou Thorpe, and brothers, Jerry (Peggy) Campbell, and Dave (Nancy) Campbell, children Ken (Linda Jones) Trautman, Diane (John) Phillips, Karen (Jim) Gay, and Joy (David) Fisher, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St.Jacob's Lutheran Church, located at 1460 State Street, N.E North Canton, Ohio 44721 on Saturday, January 11th at 2:00 pm with calling hours at 12:30 pm. The service will be live-streamed on St.Jacob's Lutheran Church, North Canton Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, PA Memorial Fund in her honor.
