Volunteers from St. Jacob’s joined with other churches to host Vacation Bible Camp at the Hartville Migrant Center on July 11th as part of their on-going summer Bible School program. An Action Team grant from Thrivent Financial served at seed money allowing us to purchase craft supplies and snacks, and our members worked together with a ministry team from another congregation to teach and entertain children living in the migrant community in Hartville.
The kids enjoyed a time of learning and singing and then broke in groups for games and crafts. Each child made a prayer jar to store prayer requests or special thoughts to share during times of prayer. The kids also enjoyed bananas and a variety of popcorn for snack.
Our volunteers enjoyed meeting the other volunteers -especially a group from Ireland! But most of all, we enjoyed helping the children have fun and learn!
